According to the Center for Disease Control almost 15 million Americans suffer from, diabetic neuropathy causing pain, numbness, and even amputation. Current treatment includes prescription drugs and Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation [TENS]  electrotherapy. This solution requires patients to have electrodes strapped to their feet and can restrict motion, when physical activity is actually a critical recommendation for patients with diabetes.

The Stimuped provides freedom of movement to people who suffer from neuropathy by embedding treatment for the pain into a shoe insert.  Powered by piezoelectricity, the more the patient walks, the better they feel. This serves a double benefit in giving patients a motivation to stay active and easier way to stay compliant with TENS type treatment.
